Dive into the art of mud construction by building a wood-fired earthen bread and pizza oven from start to finish. Through the 2 day course curriculum students will learn the basics of cob construction and natural building all while building a pizza oven: Students will learn

  • Basic natural building techniques and skills used for building complete natural homes.

  • Natural design strategies and biomimicry to make spaces healthier, sustainable and alive.

  • the science of identifying building materials from the environment and that all building materials have an origin story

Students will gain the confidence to make a pizza oven in their own back yard or community. Students will learn how to identify and harvest the right building materials, how to mix them properly, and how to use them in different parts of the construction process. Learning how to build an oven will introduce students to some of the basic natural building techniques used for building complete natural homes, so get ready to learn, this workshop is very hands-on; expect to get your hands in the mud and work with these materials for most of each day.
